MUMBAI, SEPT 6: Ruparel lead with 19 points after six rounds in Group A of the Inter-collegiate chess tournament organised by the Bombay Chess Association at the University Pavilion today.

Mulund College of Commerce dominate Group B with 18 points after five rounds in Group B.

Ruparel defeated Vivekanand Engineering 2.5-1.5 this mirning. Sachin Karnik of Ruparel beat Vivekanand’s Madon R. Ruparel’s Rajesh Bandekar, Vikas Dubey and Hrishikesh Chavan were successful in holding Vivekanand’s Srinivas, Vivek B and Sumit Govlani respectively. Vivekanand are on second spot with seven points.

In Group B, defending champions MCC swept aside Vasai’s Vartak 4-0 to gain lead. CHM College, Ulhasnagar, drew with RK Talreja to move into second spot with 14.5 points.

Malti Vatvar (Chetna), Sachin Karnik (Ruparel) and Anant Chavan (Ruia) have all won six games.

Rapid chess

Kulkarni Chess Group will organise a rapid chess tournament on September 25-26 st Suyog Mangal Karyalaya, Dombivli.

Competition will be held in three age groups, under-10, 14 and open.
