MUMBAI, Sept 29: Eleven-year-old Rujuta Rege of Arya Vidya Mandir Santa Cruz won her fifth crown of the season and her third consecutive State title winning the State-Ranking tournament at Pune.
Nurtured in the wings of Arjuna awardee Monalisa Mehta and National coach Kamlesh Mehta, and with enhanced physical training lesson from Rahul Talwalkar, Rujata showed artistic display of good technique, superb footwork, along with patience, dexterity and perseverence, to trounce her established opponents.
Rujata won her titles, beating last year8217;s cadet champion Madhurika Patkar in the quarter-finals, went on to beat Thane8217;s Aditi Jagannath 22-20, 17-21, 21-15, 21-15 in the semis and in the final, she beat Shweta, also of Thane, 20-22, 10-21, 21-15, 21-13, 21-18.
