AMBALA, May 2: Opposing the policy of holding annual examinations of Class V, the government teachers have demanded that these should be conducted by the Directorate of Primary Education and that teachers put on examination duty should be adequately paid, on par with the college teachers.
The teachers resent the fact that they are not paid any remuneration for jobs done by them other than teaching. The teachers threatened to resort to agitations if they are not paid extra charges or given extra offs. Rajkiya Adhyapak Sangh spokesman added that the teachers would be left with no alternative but to boycott such duties, if assigned without proper payment or remuneration.
The Sangh also criticised the government for ignoring the teachers8217; demands to grant master grade to PTI8217;s and Art teachers. It insisted that the teachers should also be eligible for earned leave.
The Sangh regretted that vacant posts were lying vacant for the past several years and that almost a number of posts continue to be shown vacant in each school, especially in rural areas. The lackadaisical policy of the state government was affecting the future of students who did not get coaching in their opted subjects in higher classes. It also criticised the state government for not releasing grants prior the period of March 1999.
