Crowds pour in
While those caught in the rain outside cribbed about the downpour, inside Totem Pole, everyone freaked out at the Shower Shindig last week. In sync with the thematic wet-and-wild look was the decor with colourful umbrellas in place. And all those present let their hair down, posing with Pepsi umbrellas and swaying to Hindi countdown numbers. With models Mehr Jessia and Arjun Ramphal making a brief appearance, the crowds had a dash of glamour added to their evening. This Friday, it8217;s time to don your jodhpurs for a do that8217;s dedicated to the racing theme.
Celeb spot
Guys ogled and girls swooned as celeb couple Mehr Jessia and Arjun Ramphal sashayed around the stalls at the Society Collection. Making a point to talk to each stall owner, the two had the crowds trailing them for autographs and pix for all of the two-odd hours they took around the exhibition. Her mangalsutra very much in place, the former supermodel Mehr carried it off with her hip outfit, while hubby Arjun attracted his share of fan following in his shimmery blue T-shirt and white trousers, both making their presence felt before zooming off to return to tinsel town.
And, of course, other than the corner where Mehr and Arjun were and which drew people by the dozen, the Channel V booth was another hangout for the youngsters who8217;d done with their share of window-shopping or trinket-buying. With VJs like Ranvir, Rishma and the twins from Pune 8211; Maya and Ira 8211; chatting with visitors, it was a quite a third day of the exhibition. From ethnic wear as showcased by Nimita or the exclusive range of western wear for the 8220;urban Indian woman8221;, displayed by Barcode of Mumbai, the four-day exhibition did have Pune8217;s glitterati thronging. For a dekko of the exhibits or the celebrities, is anybody8217;s guess.
Family affair
She felt she needed to capture moments spent with her near and dear ones, and freeze them in time. And the result was Ashwini Tikekar8217;s collection of 65 watercolour portraits, Kith and Kin, currently on display at the popular Udipi joint Vaishali. A graduate of JJ School of Arts, with a gold medal in fine arts, Ashwini has dabbled in different disciplines before zeroing down on portraits, courtesy her fascination for the human figure.
