Disco dancer
Hemal Thakker8217;s private disco at his Sankalp residence at Walkeshwar was the place to be on Monday night. Thakker was hosting a party with Vikas Verma 8212; bodyguard to the stars 8212; and photographer Sumeet Chopra. His private disco was done up to look like a fancy night club and there were even separate toilets for men and women. The party as usual was a motley collection of Mumbai8217;s beautiful people and there were so many models on the dance floor that the place looked like a fashion shoot. From actress Madhoo, models Achla Sachdev, Aditi Govitrikar, Dino Moria and Mark Robinson to the entire Pakistani cricket team, the bold and the beautiful boogied the night away.
After eve
New Year8217;s Eve maybe over but for Mumbai8217;s jet-set the party season has not let up. A day after New Year8217;s Eve, on Thursday night, film star Jeetendra hosted a star-studded bash at his house. Daler Mehndi and Sukhbir took charge of the entertainment with live performances and Randhir and Chintu Kapoor and Anupam Kher added the filmi touch.
This party was followed by Pinky and Rakesh Roshan8217;s do on Saturday night and drew in more or less the same crowd. By the way, most Bollywood stars spent their New Year8217;s Eve at NRI Ketan Somaiya8217;s do at the Oberoi which went on till the wee hours of the morning.
Mumbai8217;s corporate stars also did not flag in their revelry. On Friday night, Gautam Singhania and Pratap Gaikwad were spotted at the 1900s. With all this partying that happens it8217;s a wonder that any work gets done the next morning.
Trying it
Swati Singhania from Delhi has brought Louis Feraud to India and is currently planning to set shop in Mumbai. According to the grapevine discussions are underway with Vama and Shopper8217;s Stop. But to check out the market she has organised a two-week exhibition in Breach Candy. Though prices were comparable with the West, the only problem was with the sizes. Feraud is best known for their suits for both men and women but Indians tend to be built differently from foreigners and some sizes do not sit well. Incidentally, Feraud is also a well-known artist.

The rivalry between models is well known, especially between the younger set and the older, more established ones. And friction behind the scenes is responsible for making or breaking a model8217;s performance. The latest rivalry that has escalated into a full-fledged war is between Bipasha Basu and Madhu Sapre. It seems that our Miss Universe runner-up is worried about the threat the younger Madhu me-too Bipasha poses to her professional career 8212; and personal life. The Bengali babe has caught the eye of Milind Soman and even though Madhu is no longer his better half, she likes to be his only date.
