
MUMBAI, JAN 1: In an effort to check rash and dangerous driving, the Traffic Control Branch of the Mumbai police is observing Road Safety Week8217; from January 3 to 10.
The safety week will be inaugurated on January 3 by Joint Commissioner of Police Crime D Shivanandan at Sundar Mahal Junction, Marine Drive, by flagging off a Road Safety Patrol RSP cadets8217; march from Sundar Mahal to Girgaum Chowpatty.
It has been decided that stringent action would be taken against drivers for signal jumping, dangerous driving, breach of pedestrians, crossings by motorists etc, a press release said. Essay writing competition, slogan making and cartoons useful for traffic education will also be held during the Road Safety Week.
Prizes for the winners will be distributed by former director general of police D S Soman during the RSP rally on January 10 at Naigaon Police Parade. The entire week will be marked by addition of new dimensions in the domain of traffic enforcement and management.
