A team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Mumbai Police arrested Ram Milan in Lucknow in connection with the ‘supari’ case in which Bollywood actor Preeti Jain has been charged with conspiring to kill film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar. A rickshaw-puller, he is said to have supplied the weapon meant to be used to kill Bhandarkar.
Earlier, the Mumbai Police team contacted STF SSP Akhil Kumar, for help in arresting Ram Milan. Police said it was Milan who supplied a countrymade weapon to Gufaran Muhammad Ibrahim Sheikh, alias Samir, a member of the Arun Gawli gang. Samir has already been arrested and has confessed that Ram Milan supplied him the weapon.
Samir had tasked to collecting a countrymade weapon from one Rajan—who belongs to Surajapur village in Unnao district—in June. Samir, however, failed to contact Rajan and the villagers told Samir that Rajan had now shifted to Dubai. Samir was then asked to procure a weapon from somewhere else.
‘Samir met Ram Milan near the Charbagh station in Lucknow and sought his help,’’ SSP Kumar said.
Ram Milan took Samir to Nabipur village in Hardoi district where Samir purchased a pistol and four cartridges. Samir then returned to Mumbai with the weapon on June 6.
Police were however unable to disclose the name of the person who sold the countrymade pistol to Samir in Nabipur village.
‘Preeti contacted me to trap Bhandarkar’
NEW DELHI: Adding to the woes of Bollywood actor Preeti Jain, a Mumbai-based model has alleged that Jain contacted her to procure a girl to pose for nude photos that would be used in trapping a man. The model, Divya Shahi, told a television new channel that Jain had not revealed the identity of the man at the time, but later figured that it most probably was Bollywood film maker Madhur Bhandarkar. She came to this conclusion on learning of the charge that Jain had contracted a hitman to kill Bhandarkar.-PTI
