Sunday night8217;s match at the Luz in Lisbon drew inevitable comparisons with the 1999 Champions League final in Barcelona. Then, Manchester United were down 1-0 to Bayern Munich from the fifth minute till injury time. Even the UEFA officials had assumed a German victory, sending the famous old trophy to be wrapped in Bayern colours. That, and the celebrations in the German team, apparently incensed the United players. Urged on by their fans, they kept up the attack. One such move led to a corner; Beckham launched the ball, Sheringham picked it up, swivelled and drove it in. Seconds later, another improbable corner. This time, Schmeichel joined in the attack and distracted the defenders enough for Solskjaer to do the needful. History had been made. Sir Alex Ferguson summed it up best: 8216;8216;Football? Bloody hell!8217;8217;
