The city brought in the New Year with the usual fun and frolic. While Mumbai is a small place, there seemed to be enough parties to go around. And most people8217;s paths did not cross unless it was planned. The party plot unfolds:
Rocky-S: Partygoers8217; favourite designer divided his night between two bashes 8212; Venuses8217; and the Goenkas8217;. It wasn8217;t as difficult as it sounds, as both the parties were in Juhu 8212; Blue Diamond and Juhu Retreat, respectively. Rocky wore a black leather jacket, blue shirt and velvet trousers. He danced long after the clock struck 12 and reached home at five am.
James Ferreira: This acclaimed designer had a quiet party at home 8212; quot;I had a few friends over for dinner,quot; says he. James likes to be at home because it tends to be quot;so rowdy and ugly outsidequot;. He had quot;quite a nice time bringing in the New Yearquot;. And for the small do, he had at home, he wore a lungi trousers and a T-shirt.
Namrata Barua: This lovely model was at the Taj8217;s Neptune Suite with a group of 50-odd friends for Jitu Navlani8217;s party. It was, again, a quiet party where, quot;Surprisingly we sat and chatted,quot; says Namrata, quot;that8217;s why we didn8217;t go to any other partyquot;. But that8217;s not the only reason why Namrata amp; Co preferred a private affair. She agrees with James that outside parties are quot;a messquot;. Namrata wore a wine-red gown from Vaudeville, Hill Road. And to complement the gown, she also wore rubies.
Uday Benegal: The Indus Creed singer obviously had a good time on the night of December 31. He was still chirpy about the party held at a friend8217;s place in Worli. The high point? Good food and fine drinks. quot;We had a barbecue of chicken leg, prawns, a phenomenal spinach bake and a stupendous strawberry souffle.quot; Uday quot;never wears anything out of the ordinaryquot;. So, he wore a shirt and a pair of jeans quot;as usualquot;.
Neerja Shah: The generally busy publisher of Elle, was free enough to party on New Year8217;s Eve. She went to the Apollo Bar, at the Taj and then to the Mandarin and finally dashed off to the Ghetto to be with some more friends.
