
Delhi wild card Ratnika Batra continued to march ahead in the women8217;s National tennis championship on Wednesday, upsetting fourth seed Anushree Thamanna from Karnataka 6-0, 6-3 at the DLTA Complex to enter the quarter-finals.
Batra broke Thamanna in the second game itself and never allowed her opponent to settle down. The match saw Batra reeling repeated forehands to which her higher-ranked opponent had no answer.
With every game, Thamanna became more erratic and her usually reliable serve let her down with six double faults in the second set.
In another match, Tamil Nadu8217;s P Sindhu Nila beat Mokshada Jain 6-2, 6-0. Once again, the winner took control of the match right in the second game then broke her thrice to take the set.
In the other second round matches, qualifier Sowjamya Bavishetti beat Likitha Shetty 6-0, 6-1, while top seed Shalini Sahoo defeated qualifier Arantxa Andrady 6-0, 6-1.
