CHANDIGARH, Jan 17: Local MP Satya Pal Jain today said the Administration was actively considering rationalisation of sales tax on various items and a scheme for allotment of booths to the scooter and car mechanics and auto spare parts dealers in the city.

Talking to a delegation of shopkeepers here, he said the Administration would shortly take a final decision on the issue of simplification of leasehold conversion as well.

He said there was no truth in rumours that the new scheme would deprive either the mechanics or spare parts dealers of their legitimate rights of the booths.

He said an attempt was being made to rationalise the sales tax structures in Chandigarh with the neighbouring states to remove the grievances of residents.

He said he would soon give a call to various residents welfare organisations in the city to discuss the problems of locals and to involve them in celebration of 50th year of the creation of Chandigarh.
