With Hyderabad-based travel agent Mohammed Rashid giving his statements to Delhi Police today, there could be more trouble for BSP MP Tahir Khan in the illegal human trafficking case.

Rashid, who was brought to Delhi today, has reportedly told police that he met Khan twice at his official residence in Delhi. He also told police that last time when he met the MP he himself handed over Rs 18 lakh to him. The MP had reportedly helped him send three people to UK in September last year. The police are trying to get information about these three people, who are believed to be in UK at present.

“Rashid’s statement strengthens the case against Khan. If we collect enough evidence his arrest could be possible,” said a senior police officer. Rashid has been sent to police custody for seven days till June 8. He had surrendered on May 20 in Hyderabad. Rashid also said since 2005 he has known Sunder Lal Yadav, the pan kiosk owner in Delhi and a link between the MPs and prospective clients brought by the travel agents.

Rashid also said he had met Yadav around 15 times and Yadav now owes him Rs 1 lakh for promising to send one boy abroad, whichh e failed to do.

In court, Rashid said that he met Yadav through MP A Krishnan’s personal assistant Ramanam Murthy, whom he has known since 2002. Rashid also told the court that he knows about a woman and two children from Gujarat being sent to the US.

These people were sent without carriers but with fake documents that the police now intend to investigate. Rashid also mentioned two “bosses” — Shakeel and Raju, who are both absconding, are believed to be the main agents dealing with the illegal human trafficking scam. Rashid will be produced in court on June 8.

Meanwhile, the bail hearing for Babu Bhai Katara’s PA’s Kiran Dhar, disabled Saantu travel agent and Sunder Lal Yadva will come up for hearing on June 5.
