ROBIN ON A ROLL

A brave decision by the Karnataka selectors that gave Robin Uthappa the platform to launch himself. And he repaid them with a scintillating 162. The teenager, Irfan Pathan8217;s teammate during the U-19 Asia Cup success last year, was pencilled in to the Karnataka team in place of regular captain J Arun Kumar. And MP skipper Amay Khurasia played along unwittingly, asking the opposition to bat after winning the toss.

He would regret it. Uthappa, known for his blazing knocks, made a mockery of the MP attack farming 21 fours and a six during his 252-ball stint at the crease. All this, and a decent wicketkeeper to boot.

RUDRA ROCKS ASSAM

Another teenager who stole the show was UP8217;s Rudra Pratap Singh. The tall fast bowler rocked the Assam innings with five telling blows. Singh 19 has been a regular at the Indian team8217;s pre-season camps for the last two years. And the experience is showing. In just six matches, he has so far plucked 18 wickets with two five wicket hauls.
