Macau, May 11: India’s Jyoti Randhawa fired a superb five under 66 to share the second spot with two others at the end of the first round of the Macau Open golf tournament here on Thursday.
Rookie professional Simon Dyson showed the kind of form that made him one of England’s top amateurs last year by firing a course record seven-under-par 64 on the opening day of the $200,000 tournament.
European PGA star Mark O’Meara of the US, compatriot Chris Hunsucker and Taiwan’s Lin Chie-Hsiang returned with 67 each to share the fifth spot with five players, inlcuding Americans Mike Cunning, Andrew Pitts and Scott Taylor were clubbed together at three-under 68.
India’s Amandeep Johl and Gaurav Ghei returned two-under cards and were placed joint 13th with three others while Vivek Bhandari was sharing the 20th spot at one-under 70.
Among the other Indians, Harmeet Kahlon shot 71 and was placed joint 32nd, Arjun Atwal was joint 71st after submitting a card of 74, Digvijay Singh and Amritinder Singh shot identical four-over 75s and were among a bunch of players sharing the 89th spot.
