Ranade-Sathe lift Cup

PUNE, Jan 27: The doctor duo of Makarand Ranade and Rajendra Sathe blanked out Dr. Jamenis and Rajesh Kasat 9-2 to lift the Pune Cup Republic day, Tin and Bottle tennis tournament which concluded at the PYC on Tuesday.

The winning duo made it to the final after defeating the Econ Kalyan pair of N Venkatesh and Bharat Sasane. Ranade and Sathe were initially down 1-3, but made a teriffic comeback to take the match at 8-5.

In the other semi-final, Dr. Nitin Bhave and SS Joshi from PYC went down tamely to Jamenis and Kasat at 9-2.

Bhave8217;s ground strokes had been all but nullified by Jamenis8217;s chips and Rajesh8217;s flat shots.

During the prize distribution, RG Bapat, Director of sponsors Vidya Sahakari Bank declared their intention to sponsor the next event as well.
