Raising Day celebrated

CHANDIGARH, July 13: Personnel of the fourth batallion of the Sikh Light Infantry, celebrated its 50th Raising Day, somewhere in the Western Sector, which began on Saturday and concluded today.

The batallion which was raised on July 12, 1948 at the Ferozepur Cantonment, celebrated its Golden Jubilee under Col Dinesh Chander Sood. Brig SS Sohal, Commandant, the Sikh Light Infantry Regimental Centre, was the chief guest on the occasion, a release said.

In these 50 years, the batallion has served in all sectors including the Andaman and Nicobar islands, it was added. Brig Sohal also released a first day cover to mark the occasion.
