SAS NAGAR, May 23: The rain god smiled today, much to the relief of city residents, but the same smile literally washed out the scheduled Pankaj Udhas night at the Pinnacle Exposition Centre here this evening.

Some 3,200 empty chairs gawked at the tarpaulin-covered stage of the the open air auditorium.

Show organisers Worldwide Immigration Consultancy Services Ltd were disappointed, to say the least. quot;Besides everything else, we had ordered dinner for as many as 600 guests. It is going to be a complete waste,quot; WWICS marketing manager Anil Manocha groaned.

However, the maestro who touched the hearts of Indians settled abroad with his famous film ghazal, Chithi aayee hai8230;.bade dino ke baad vatan ki yaad aayee hai, announced that he would not disappoint his fans.

According to Manocha, Udhas, who was scheduled to depart on Monday morning, changed his programme. quot;Obviously, we could do nothing about the weather, so the singer agreed to perform at the same time tomorrow evening.quot;
