Rao surrenders

HYDERABAD: P V Prabhakar Rao, wanted in connection with the 133-cr urea scam surrendered before the special (economic offences) court today after days of outwitting the police dragnet despite being under SPG protection. The surrender of Rao, against whom a non-bailable warrant was issued by a local special court for economic offences in connection with the scam, has come about within hours after the High Court dismissed the petition filed by Rao seeking quashing of NBW.

Bofors team in UK

NEW DELHI: A two-member CBI team has reached London to pursue investigations into the transfer of Bofors pay-off money from Swiss banks to accounts in the Channel Islands. The team, which left here yesterday, would hold talks with British officials on freezing of some Channel Island accounts allegedly linked to the Bofors scandal.

Bansal shifted

MUMBAI: The Sena-BJP Government today transferred Principal Secretary (School Education) Kumud Bansal to the Familyand Child Welfare Department in place of T F Thekekara in the same capacity. Thekekara will be new Joint Managing Director, City and Industrial Development Corporation, while Rameshchandra Kanadey, Secretary (Employment ) will replace Bansal.
