CHENNAI: A nephew of AIADMK chief Jayalalitha8217;s close friend Sasikala Natarajan was arrested at Tiruppur near Coimbatore in connection with the probe into the auditor assault case. Jayalalitha termed the arrest of K V Mahadevan as a move by Karunanidhi to extract a statement to implicate her in the case. Jaya8217;s former auditor Rajasekhar had alleged in his complaint that he was badly beaten up by Jaya with certain items of footwear.

Balloon completes record flight

GENEVA: Swiss Bertrand Piccard and Briton Brian Jones on Saturday became the first men ever to fly round the world non-stop in a hot-air balloon. They achieved the feat as they crossed the 9.27 degrees longitude above Northern Mauritaina, 20 days after their Breitling Orbiter 3 launched from Switzerland.

LUDHIANA: Four people died and two are reported to be serious after they consumed hooch in a village in Khanna sub-division here on Friday night.
