
As part of their corporate social responsibility programme, Quark Media House, leading software developers, have launched a special initiative to serve the society.
The company8217;s India Development Centre has come up with a project, Prayas, which aims at providing education, support and medical help to the underprivileged sections of the society.
In a tecirc;te-agrave;-tecirc;te with Newsline today, the company8217;s General Manager India Operations Davinder Maan said the media enterprise has launched new products under the famous QuarkXPress product line.
Divulging details of Prayas, Maan said it is a community development initiative started by a group of dedicated Quark India volunteers.
Under this initiative, the company recently donated 100 computers to underprivileged students and institutions.
8220;As computers have become an integral part of our lives and computer education is a must to survive in today8217;s competitive economy, access to computer education still remains a distant dream for the underprivileged due to the lack of financial resources and awareness,8221; he said, while stating that the computer donation initiative was an attempt to bridge this gap.
The Quark Prayas panel also visited the needy institutions to install the computers. The identification and selection process is on to make further donations under the second phase of the initiative, Maan said.
