Punjab Tractors Q3 profit rises

MUMBAI, JAN 31: Punjab Tractors today posted a 5.3 per cent rise in its third quarter net profit at Rs 35.80 crore over Rs 34 crore in the same period last year. Net sales also increased by 4.3 per cent to Rs 268.93 crore in the quarter ended December 2000 from Rs 257.68 crore in the year-ago period.

The company registered a 3.18 per cent drop in its tractor sales during April-December this year at 35,211 units against 36,370 units in the year-ago period. During this period, tractor industry sales also declined by 8.1 per cent to 1.9 lakh units as against 2.07 lakh units in the same period of 1999-2000.
