
CHANDIGARH, May 11: The privatisation of Punjab Tourism Development Corporation complexes has invited serious criticism from the employees of Punjab Tourism Karamchari and Punjab Tourism Employees Union, Chandigarh.
The Joint Action Committee of the two unions today held a dharna in front of the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation, Sector-8, to protest the privatisation policy.
The employees demanded withdrawal of the privatisation policy, release of revised pay arrears effective from January 1, 1996, release of proficiency step-up to eligible employees or to adopt assured carrier progression scheme. They also demanded regularisation of services of ad hoc and daily wage workers who have already completed 240 days of service and release of salary for two days 8211; for July 13, 1998 and July 15, 1998. They alleged the government was adopting anti-employee policies and flayed it for not employees their due balance as recommended by the pay commission.
