Sangma8217;s visit to the city
Former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma will address a gathering of Lions Clubs district 323-D2 at National Defence Academy NDA at Khadakwasla on July 26. Vice-admiral Arun Prakash, NDA commandant, will be the chief guest.
The Lions district 323 8211; D2 spread in Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik revenue districts has 80 Lions clubs with a total membership of 2,800.
Thosar installed as Rotary chief
Arvind Thosar was installed president of Rotary Club of Pune Shaniwarwada. Other office-bearers are Suresh Natu, vice-president; Makarand Gokhale, joint secretary; and Prachi Chikte, treasurer.
Demonstration of life-saving skills
The Indian Maritime Foundation IMF will organise a lecture on Accidental drowning and teaching of life-saving skills8217; by John B Long, Commonwealth Secretary General of the U.K.-based Royal Life-Saving Society, and Dr. Heather MacGowan, international development liaison officer of the Royal Life-Saving Society of Australia, at 5.45 p.m. on July 31 at the National Film Archive of India auditorium.
The IMF has organised live demonstrations on life-saving skills at Army School of Physical Training at 5 p.m. on July 29 and at the College of Military Engineering at 5 p.m. on July 30.
Slum renamed
The Pune Municipal Corporation PMC-declared slum at Yerawada survey numbers 2 and 3 was named as Bharatratna Mother Teresa Nagar8217; by Pune Bishop Valerian D8217;Souza at a formal function held on Sunday.
