
Nagar fest kicks of
The first ever Ahmednagar Festival, a cultural bonanza organised under the aegis of Nagar Vyaspeeth, began on a glittering note on Thursday. Music and dance performances, a poets8217; meet and various competitions will mark the eight-day festival.
The festival commenced today in presence of chairman of State comnittee for freedom fighters Rajabhau Jharkar, Rajkumar Engineering managing director Prakash Baldota,, district superintendent of police Himanshu Roy and several other prominent citizens at Sahakar Bhavan, here. The inaugural function was followed by Swarayatra, a programme of Marathi-Hindi songs.
The festival aims at encouraging local talents by providing them the much-needed opportunities to perform. Dr Anil Deshmukh, Dr Dinesh Wagholikar, Shubhalakshmi Gune and Sunita Pasi will performing during the festival.
Nimbalkar dead
Lt-COL M.B. Nimbalkar Retd died following a brief illness here on Monday. He was 80. Col. Nimbalkar began his career with the Baroda State Army before independence. He later served the Indian Army, first with the Maratha Light Infantry and then in the 4 Gorkha Rifles. After retiring in 1968, he dedicated himself to the study of the literature and teachings of saints. He wrote a biography of Saibaba titled, Shri Sainche Satya Charitra.
He is survived by wife, four sons 8212; Col. Retd Virendra Nimbalkar; Brig. Chandrasen Nimbalkar, now the Commandment of the Garhwal Regimental Centre; former MSEB chairman and now secretary at the Centre Ajit Nimbalkar; and Bank of India official Ranjit Nimbalkar a daughter and grandchildren.
