
Businessman drowns, 2 teenagers missing
Two teenagers, Rohan Laxmikant Garg-Agarwal and Sonia Balwinder Singh Dhadiyala, were reported missing and a 48-year-old city-based entrepreneur drowned in Ghod river at Nighoj in Ahmednagar district on Saturday afternoon.
Twelve-year-old Namrata Aurora was trapped in the strong current and whirlpools of the ranjan kundas potholes. She was rescued by villagers, Parner police said. The district administration has sought help of army divers to locate the missing teen-agers. Subhash Premand Law, critically wounded after he was tossed about by the current, was rescued by villagers along with Namrata. He was immediately rushed to a private nursing home, here. He died before any medical aid could be given, hospital sources said.
The families including the Gargs from Nagar Road, Dhadiyalas from Salisbury Park, Auroras from Vishrantwadi and Laws from Vadgaon Sheri, were visiting Nighoj village, about 75 km from here, famous for its river-bed potholes and a nearby temple complex. Law and the other kids apparently went for a bath in the river when one of them slipped and was dragged by a strong current.
Two youths fishing at a distance managed to rescue the severely bruised Preeti, police said. The Parner police who immediately reached the spot later summoned fire brigade personnel from nearby Shirur. The fire brigade, however, failed to trace the teenagers and the search was abandoned due to bad light.
Rohan and Sonia were untraced till the last news came in on Sunday. Rohan is an eighth standard student of St Joseph Boy8217;s High School, Khadki while Law was owner of Raj Hi-Tech Pvt Ltd having plants in Bhosari and Vrindavan Nagar in Vadgaon Sheri. The entrepreneur is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
