
Microsoft to set up solution centre in city
International Computers Limited ICL and American computer giant Microsoft Alliance on Wednesday announced in London the setting up of a Microsoft solution centre in Pune, as part of 12 such centres to be opened worldwide. The Pune centre is to be a showcase for Microsoft technology-based software solutions specialising in development of electronic business E-commerce solutions and web-enabling of mission critical applications.
ABVP issues chargesheet against varsity
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ABVP on Wednesday submitted a formal charge-sheet addressed to the Chancellor, University of Pune UoP alleging irregularities in the administration of the UoP.
Other allegations of the ABVP include special treatment toward the Institute of Science to get affiliation, irregularities in the purchase of computers by the UoP during the financial year ending March 31, 8217;99, and an allegation of political bias in cancelling the affiliations of two law colleges in Pune and Samgamner each.
Vrunda Purandare of the ABVP described the allegations in the chargesheet against admissions to BCS given in excess of seats available, and a protest against the nomination of Prof Aston of Wadia College for the state8217;s model teacher award.
