PSIEC staff dharna by

CHANDIGARH, June 4: The Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Staff Association today staged a dharna in front of the Udyog Bhawan, on a call given by the PSIEC Staff Association, Daily Wage Work Charged Association and Officers Welfare Association. The main demands of the employees include the withdrawal of decision to vacate SAIL stockyard, Mandigobindgarh; filling up of vacant posts by promotion, stoppage of practice of taking employees on deputation in technical wing, placement of daily wagers in regular scale after five years, release of balance ex-gratia of Rs 1,500 to the remaining categories among others.

Addressing the gathering, G.S. Oberoi, the president of the PSIEC association and Gurdip Singh, general secretary said that the association would intensify its stir if their demands are not met within 15 days.

Gate meeting held
The employees of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Road Workers Union today held a gate meeting to mobilise the workers for a dharna slated for June 10. The dharna is being held to protest against the alleged anti-worker attitude of the administration towards their demands.
