CHANDIGARH, July 23: The Union Health Ministry has extended the provisional recognition granted to Government Medical College for one year, GMCH Director-Principal V. K. Kak said.The Medical Council of India continues to withhold recognition to the college primarily on the grounds that some of its staff members continue to be on deputation, Kak said. The college has 190 teachers, out of which 10 professors are working on deputation. Interviews for eight posts have been conducted by the UPSC, but the declaration of the results have been stayed by the CAT order.
