Property name change: PMC to double charges

The Pune Municipal Corporation PMC has proposed to double the charges for the transfer of names in the ownership of a property from the next financial year. The last time these charges had been revised was in 2001.

The Pune Municipal Corporation PMC has proposed to double the charges for the transfer of names in the ownership of a property from the next financial year. The last time these charges had been revised was in 2001.

As per the proposal, tabled by the civic administration before the civic standing committee, the charges will be hiked to Rs 1,000 from the present Rs 500 for the change in the name and other details of the property owner or occupier, for the taxable amount of a property between Rs 1 and Rs 500. With each increase in the next Rs 100, the charges will be Rs 25, from the present charges of Rs 15.

If there is a case of transfer of name of the dead person, the amount will be hiked ten-fold from the present amount of Rs 20 to Rs 200, for the taxable amount ranging between Rs 1 and Rs 500. For the increase in each Rs 100 there onwards, the charges will go on increasing by Rs 25, from the present Rs 15.

Meanwhile, civic authorities on Friday promised to provide better civic facilities like sufficient water supply to within the next six months and timely removal of garbage from the red light area. The promise was given at a function as part of AIDS prevention awareness programme organised by PMC for sex workers.

PMC Additional Commissioner M S Devnikar said that as far as the issue of providing basic facilities to the red light area, like changing of old water supply lines. He also urged voluntary organizations to come forward in helping this section of society for setting up help centers for them and hostels for their children. An exhibition on AIDS prevention and awareness had also been organised.

Ward offices to issue ration cards from Jan
FROM January onwards, ration cards will be issued at the 14 Pune Municipal Corporation ward offices. In an initiative to keep away middle men and agents and also bring about transparency and efficacy, the decentralised mode of issuing ration cards will come into effect from next month, said Food Distribution Officer Pradeep Patil. At present, the ration cards are issued at Shivajinagar godown, Ambil Odha, and Mandai. 8220;With ward offices being involved, it will cut down on travel expenses,8217;8217; said Patil. The procedure will remain the same. Applicants need to first buy the form for Rs 2 and provide documents of residence proof and hand over the old ration card for the new, said Patil. With a target of one week for issuing the card, Patil has instructed his department to speed up scrutinising the details and issue the card within a week.
