So,following the eight-wicket loss on a square turning Chepauk wicket, will Michael Clarke go in with an extra spinner for the Hyderabad game? On Tuesday at the press conference,Clarke played his cards quite close to his chest.

We need to assess conditions once we get to Hyderabad. Australian spin took three wickets in first innings while fast bowlers took a lot more, said Clarke. That does not mean to say we got it right by playing three fast bowlers.

Clarke was insistent that it was less about his squad selection and more to do with his side8217;s batting that led to Australia8217;s eventual downfall in the first Test. This,he said, will also hold true for the next Test in Hyderabad if they don8217;t set things right.

It8217;s not just about selection. It8217;s about how you perform. I don8217;t think we bowled well enough in our first innings and we certainly didn8217;t bat well enough in our second innings.

It made sense, considering when Clarke and debutant Moises Henriques applied themselves, the Indian spinners seemed less than potent. Considering that Henriques is a fast bowling all-rounder,Clarke conceded that if they were to play one less fast bowler for Hyderabad, then Henriques would more than make up for the missing pacer8217;s spot.

If we don8217;t have a third fast bowler,Moises can certainly don that role, he said. But when asked if Australia needed to fly more spinners in,he replied: Bring more spinners to India? Bring the whole country in soon! Warney8217;s is in town. We8217;ll see,if he8217;s available!
