The brainchild of British musician David Rotheray,former lead guitarist with The Beautiful South,Answer Ballads takes some of the most famous songs and updates the listener on the later years of the principal subject. The album also includes Billy Pauls Me and Mrs Jones and Rod Stewarts Maggie Mae. Rotheray got the idea from Tom Stoppards Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead,a play that follows the story of two minor characters in Shakespeares Hamlet after they leave the stage,so to speak.
Developers feel heat over fryscraper
the London fry-scraper,as it is now being called,that reflects sunlight at an intensity capable of melting parts of a car became the latest attraction in the citys financial district. Dubbed the Walkie Talkie,it was blamed for melting a Jaguar car parked on the street prompting the buildings developers to erect temporary scaffolding at street level to block the beams of light. The Walkie Talkie,due to open in 2014,is one of a series of striking buildings in the area of London known as the Square Mile,with other notables,the Gherkin and the Cheese Grater.
