Unfolding stands for the fan-wave

The foldable stands at the Harare Sports Club the only ground in the world to use them

The foldable stands at the Harare Sports Club the only ground in the world to use them are out as the crowds stream in to watch their team play, even though many still prefer watching their cricket lying on grass. On a good day,we can hold up to 10,000 people without having to resort to the folding stands. But with Zimbabwe playing well,we are forced to open some of them up, a Zimbabwe Cricket official at the venue says. What does the capacity increase to? About 26,000,give or take a few.

Grin and beer it

Its been a busy day for Maiden Public Houses (pubs are still known by their full name in Zimbabwe) senior manager Thomas Dreyer. A crowd of Indian spectators drown their sorrows and quench their thirst in barrels of bubbly. Ive never seen so much beer being chugged down at the same time before. Wouldnt harder liquor be preferred during the cold days? Its quite amazing, Dreyer says. Not surprisingly,it runs out before the end of play. Atleast in beer consumption, the Indians lead,by a distance.

Bollywood rules the speakers

DJ Robbie T is baffled by some of the requests. Known to dish out the latest R&B and hip-hop hits at the HSC,Robbie is forced to play light Bollywood numbers by the Indians in the crowd. Soon after, songs from Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham and Singh is Kiing blare all day long.
