Chelsea, and particularly striker Didier Drogba, are likely to be in big trouble with UEFA after chaotic scenes marred the end of their Champions League semi-final second leg.
Having been taken off after 72 minutes, the Ivorian stormed back onto the pitch after the final whistle and charged towards Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo. Gesticulating wildly as he complained about the penalties Chelsea felt they should have been awarded,Drogba was booked before being dragged away. He returned for another go at the tunnel, shrugging off the efforts of Guus Hiddink to calm him. With angry spectators throwing flags and other items at the Barcelona players and the technical area in total chaos,Chelsea can expect an early knock on the door from UEFA8217;s disciplinary committee.
Striker apologises
In a statement issued by the club on Thursday,Drogba aplogised for his outburst. I regret that in the heat of the moment I let out my incredible frustration and disappointment in this way,and for that I apologise, he said.
