Pirlo back in training
IRENE: Andrea Pirlo is back in training for struggling Italy,a day after the World Cup holder was held to a 1-1 draw by New Zealand. The return of the AC Milan midfielder was just about the only piece of good news for Italy on Monday. Coach Marcello Lippi lectured the players for 20 minutes before the start of training, with even injured goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon called out of the gym for the occasion. Today is the first time he has touched the ball in 15 days. Almost recovered? Lets see,we have to make some checks. Lets hope so but8230; Lippi told a news conference on Monday.
Aus will miss Kewell,says Moore
JOHANNESBURG: The absence of the suspended Harry Kewell and Craig Moore will deprive Australia of quality and experience in its must-win Group D match against Serbia at the World Cup,Serb captain Dejan Stankovic said Monday. Kewell was sent off and Moore picked up his second yellow card of the tournament in Australias 1-1 draw with Ghana. They still have good players in the reserves, but these two are big players for them, Stankovic said. We will try to use that to our advantage.
Chinese made the vuvuzelas
BEIJING: Chinese media say up to 90 per cent of the vuvuzelas sold in South Africa during the World Cup are made in China, with local manufacturers readying for a new boost in demand. Guas Guangda Toy Factory in the eastern manufacturing hub of Yiwu has produced and shipped more than 1 million of the plastic trumpets, whose sound has been likened to a swarm of angry bees. Production is steaming ahead at up to 20,000 units per day.
We will make it through: Cacau
ERASMIA: Germany gave Cacau a new life and a new passport, and the Brazilian-born striker is now ready to pay back with World Cup goals in Germanys decisive Group D match against Ghana. Losing to Ghana could mean Germanys ouster from the World Cup and the earliest exit for the three-time champions in their history. Cacau said the team will rebound from a 1-0 loss to Serbia and has no doubt we will win Wednesdays match at Soccer City.
