Tibetan dies after setting himself on fire in China

A 22-year-old Tibetan man set himself on fire to protest against Chinese rule and dies.

A 22-year-old Tibetan man,who set himself on fire to protest against Chinese rule,today died in northwest China,official media reported.

The man set himself alight in the Xiahe County in the Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Gannan last night,state news agency Xinhua reported.

Yesterday,Lhamo Tseten was a 23-year-old villager died from self-immolation near a local hospital at the Amchok Township in the same county. This is the first time that two such incidents were reported on the same day.

The self immolation protest continued in different parts of Tibetan areas for the past few months which crossed over fifty five.

According to overseas Tibetan groups the protests were aimed at demanding the return of the Dalai Lama from self exile and to protest the Chinese rule.

The protests appeared intensified ahead of the ruling Communist Party of China8217;s key congress meet to appoint new leaders to rule the country for the next 10 years.

On October 24,the Chinese Foreign Ministry accused the Dalai group of instigating the unrest.

8220;To our knowledge most of the self immolation cases are closely instigated by Dalai group,8221; Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a media conference.

8220;The Dalai group is trying to achieve its political schemes through instigating some Tibetans to self immolate. Such behaviours are despicable,8221; he said.
