With a panel of three jurors sitting in the judgement box, rhythmic gymnasts are judged on a total of 30 points the three values adding up being Execution,Artistry and Difficulty levels,or the technicality of the 90-second set.
While Artistry comprises elements like the choice of music, choreography, costumes and presentation it is what Indian gymnasts will look to score high on and prepare for Execution refers to body posture and movements and sequences, with perfectly pointed toe-shoes an absolute must. The Difficulty value comes from the level of complications in a movement as also handling of the apparatus dropping or fumbling with which leads to sure hefty deductions. A mistake in handling especially with clasping the loose-ended ribbons and ropes or catching the hoops and ball, results in not just a glaring error but also affects the confidence.
Music could be softer tones for flexibility to strike poses or classical or aggressive. The host rhythmic gymnasts have been happy to include Indian classical tunes in their routines this year. While Pooja scores on her expressions because of her dance-base,Shipra is high on flexibility, and Akshada carries herself really well,so scores on presentation, coach Upadhye, who is also a qualified judge says.
