The PCB inquiry committee,probing into Pakistans poor performance in Australia,has recommended disciplinary action against five players including former captain Shoiab Malik and Shahid Afridi. The inquiry committee has recommended that the board suspend former captain Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved and fine Shahid Afridi,Kamran and Umar Akmal for various violations of the code of conduct, one source said.

Jadejas IPL appeal rejected

Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ravindra Jadejas hopes of playing the Indian Premier League went up in smoke after the IPL governing council turned down his appeal against a one-year ban for violating the events terms and conditions. Jadeja was banned for negotiating outside his contract with the Royals. In his appeal,the all-rounder claimed that he had taken the BCCIs permission to look for other teams after the Royals gave no indication of renewing his contract that ended in December last year.

India lose series,Raut called

Englands women clinched the three-match Twenty20 series against India,outclassing the hosts by five wickets with four balls to spare in the deciding clash at the MCAs Bandra-Kurla Complex ground. Also,India spinner Poonam Raut was reported with a suspect illegal bowling action by umpires Ulhas Gandhe and S Ravi.

Somdev,Rohan go up

Despite suffering two losses during Indias Davis Cup World Group tie against Russia,Somdev Devvarman rose seven rungs to 121 in the latest ATP singles rankings. Rohan Bopanna also jumped 26 places to re-enter the top-400 and is now 390. On the doubles list,Leander Paes 6 and Mahesh Bhupathi 8 were unchanged. In the WTA charts,out of action Sania Mirza slid to 84 from 83 but maintained her 35th position in doubles.

NZ want Pak tie moved out

New Zealand want their Davis Cup tie against Pakistan moved because of terrorism fears,a tennis official said. New Zealand won their Asia-Oceania zone group two tie against Sri Lanka 3-2 in Colombo at the weekend and are now due to face Pakistan in a semi-final in July. We have emailed the ITF asking about the process and what we need to do to have it reviewed, Tennis New Zealands Tracy Hall said.

Jeev ends tied 35th

After a roller-coaster two-over 72 in the final round,Jeev Milkha Singh rose a rung to sign off tied 35th at the 5.6 million Honda Classic at Palm Beach Garden in Florida. His worst card of the week left Jeevs total at three-over 283. Columbian Camilo Villegas clinched the PGA Tour title by five strokes after a two-under 68 in the final round left him 13-under overall.

Viva upset leaders Dempo

Nigerian Reuben Senyo scored as Viva Kerala stunned table toppers Dempo of Goa 1-0 in the I-League in Kozhikode. Viva Kerala,who were desperate for an outright win,now have 15 points after 14 matches. Dempo lead the table with 29 points after 14 games.
