Sania Mirza squandered a one-set lead to lose to 13th seed Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia in her semi-final of the Aegon Classic on Saturday. The unseeded Indian began in brilliant fashion, but ran out of steam as the match progressed to lose 3-6 6-0 6-3.

Sania recovered from a break down in the fourth game and reeled off four games in a row for a 5-2 lead. She then comfortably served out the set.

The Slovak, however, staged a remarkable comeback in the second, blanking Sania to make it a set all. Rybarikova carried the momentum into the third set, breaking the Indian early.

Even though the Indian broke back, her 20-year-old opponent wasnt to be denied the win,and after another break in the eighth game, confirmed her place in the final. Rybarikova will play Li Na for the title after the Chinese defeated Russias Maria Sharapova 6-4 6-4.
