Preview: Delhi Daredevils vs Chennai Super Kings

A beleaguered Delhi unit will look to open their account against the CSK in Delhi today.

With five consecutive losses to their name,Delhi Daredevils cant afford to lose now. It has been a consistent downward slide,and the road up will require a special effort.

Yes,they have had their chances,but were not able to deliver the final blow. Their bowling unit is shaping up well and it is now on the batsmen to provide the much-needed impetus.

The form of Delhis oversees players is a worry as none of them is playing to their potential. Likes of David Warner,Johan Botha,Mahela Jayawardene and Morne Morkel,will have to make substantial contributions to improve the teams chances in the remaining leg of the tournament.

Not only the oversees lot,even the Indian names have done miserably in their respective departments. A team can go all the way if their combination of Indian and foreign players gel well and click as a unit.

Another thing which the team is missing the most is a quality spinner in their ranks . Almost all the IPL franchise have one match-winning spinner in their line-up,Delhi is missing that and will need to utilise the existing talent efficiently now. Shahbaz Nadeem has bowled well,but the orthodox bowler needs someone to apply maintain from the other end.

Chennai Super Kings,on the other hand,look a far more sorted unit. It is advised not to read too much into their last outing,as the wounded unit will come hard in the upcoming fixture.

It is one of the most balanced side in the tournament with a fine blend of domestic and foreign talent. Apart from attacking players up front and lower down the order,they have some good grafters who,if needed,can hold the innings together. Chasing ten runs per over is not a tough ask for the team which has a lot of powerful hitters in the squad.

One area where Chennai hold the edge over the rest of the teams is their spin department.

The two-time champions have some great spinners in the line-up,and they dont give away easy runs. Likes of R Ashwin,Ravindra Jadeja and part timers of Suresh Raina,can contain the flow of runs in the middle overs and operate well in the first six overs too.

Opening remains a worry ,but it is not something to lose sleep over. With some brutal hitters down the order ,the team is equipped to chase down any total on the board. MS Dhoni,Jadeja,Suresh Raina and Morkel can clear any ground in the world.

‘Unfortunate’: SC slams reports suggesting ‘pilot error’ led to Air India crash

The Supreme Court Monday issued notice on a plea seeking an independent and expeditious investigation into the June 12, 2025, crash of an Air India Boeing Dreamliner in Ahmedabad, which killed 260 people. The bench also termed as “unfortunate” media reports which indicated that “pilot error” was to blame for the crash, purportedly quoting some preliminary findings by the AAIB.
