One way or the other,KKR fail to get it right

Five losses from nine games is a fair reflection of the Kolkata sides inconsistent form. With their batting and bowling departments not quite complementing each other in the first half of the tournament, there happens to be a marginal difference between their win and loss count.

A case in point was KKRs loss against Kings XI at Eden Gardens on Sunday where despite scoring 200 the home team lost by 8 wickets. But where the blame for this loss rested with the bowlers,in KKRs previous defeat, the batsmen had failed to deliver when, chasing 178 against Delhi, the team was dismissed for 137.

We were defending 200,but we didnt bowl well at all. At no stage of the chase did we apply pressure on the opponents. The boundaries kept coming, and we didnt make them feel the pressure. We failed to defend a defendable total, Ganguly said.

Former national selector Sambaran Banerjee, who has been closely associated with the Bengal players in the KKR outfit, blames it on the teams inability to find the right combination. KKRs real problem is the team managements poor planning. They are past the halfway stage of the tournament now,but they still dont know their set playing XI or their main 15-member combination. Its costing them matches. Even Wasim Akrams presence in the dug out hasnt helped. One can only feel sorry for Akram, you cant expect magic from him. If the KKR bowlers cant get their variations right in the matches,no one can help it, he said.
