The ruling Rajasthan government have turned on the heat on Indian Premier League IPL chairman and BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi with two complaints, one of misappropriation of funds and another one of fraud, being registered against him in the last week alone.
On Tuesday,Rupa Ram,a Nagaur district panchayat samiti member and Deva Ram,the secretary of the Barmer district cricket association, registered a police complaint against Modi alleging that Modi acquired a plot of land in Nagaur through forgery in 2004,to enable him to contest the Rajasthan Cricket Association elections.
The police have charged Modi under Sections 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code for fraud and criminal conspiracy.
Modi, who was in Jaipur on Wednesday, rubbished the allegations. These are baseless allegations against me,I have done nothing wrong. Let there be an investigation.
