Mancini and Rooney resurrect red-card row

Mancini admitted that he was at fault when he criticized Rooney for his gesture last week.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has revived his dispute with Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney after their win at the DW Stadium against Wigan Athletic last night. Mancini was infuriated due to referee Martin Atkinsons failure to brandish a red-card to Maynor Figueroa for handling the ball which denied Sergio Aguero a goal scoring opportunity.

He then gesticulated an imaginary red-card,which prompted Rooney to post on his Twitter account,Was Mancini asking for a red card??? Mancini had last week only blamed Rooney for getting Vincent Company a red-card in their FA Cup third-round clash at the Etihad Stadium, which United won 3-2.

He then refused to make an apology for his gestures and said that he did it because Rooney did it. I did it because Wayne Rooney did it. It is normal with a chance like that to do it. I am on the bench and the referee cannot see me, The Sun quoted Mancini,as saying.

Mancini also admitted that he was at fault when he criticized Rooney for his gesture last week.
