Magnitude-6.8 quake shakes Siberia

A magnitude-6.8 earthquake shook southwestern Siberia today,the US Geological Survey reported.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the temblor that rattled the region at 1:17 p.m. Local time,the agency said.

The quake was centered some 11.7 kilometers below the surface,the USGS said.

The USGS said the quake hit 100 kilometers east of Kyzyl,Russia and about 892 kilometers northwest of Ulaanbator,Mongolia.
