Tron: Legacy,
The forthcoming Disney film,has borrowed its marketing ploy from 20th Century Fox and Avatar. Walt Disney Company said it would preview more than 20 minutes of its forthcoming Tron: Legacy free at Imax theatres around the world. Fox and Imax created this model by showing about 15 minutes of Avatar a few months before that movies release. Disney is pushing the science-fiction themed Tron: Legacy,which opens December 17,with everything in its marketing arsenal,including a huge array of related merchandise and a continuing nighttime street party at one of its California theme parks.
Former Dora the Explorer
star,14-year-old Caitlin Sanchez,is suing Nickelodeon,MTV Networks and Viacom,saying she is owed millions of dollars for her work on the show. The Hollywood Reporter said Sanchez was 12 years old when she was hired on Dora to play the bilingual title character and that her suit asserts she was dismissed from the job when she hit puberty and could no longer provide her perky,imperious voice. Nickelodon responded in a statement that the claims of the lawsuit were baseless, adding: Caitlins contract was extensively negotiated through her agent and in compliance with her union.
Jet Li,
the Chinese actor,filmmaker and international film star,has been cast in Hong Kong director Tsui Harks new 3-D kung fu epic,Flying Swords of Dragon Gate. Tsuis wife,producer Nansun Shi,said Li will star alongside Chinas Zhou Xun and Mavis Fan in the 35 million production scheduled for release in December 2011. The project marks Tsuis reunion with Li after the Once Upon a Time in China kung fu franchise in the 1990s. Li then moved onto a career in Hollywood. His most recent credits include The Expendables and the Chinese-language drama Ocean Heaven.
