Robin Williams will star next spring in a Broadway production of Rajiv Josephs play Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. It just hit me hard,it was so powerful, Williams said of Josephs play in a telephone interview. I read it,and I was going: Im in. I can come into it and create it from the ground up. And Im hairy enough to be a tiger,so thats good. The play,a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2010,had a critically acclaimed run at Center Theater Groups Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles last year.
Brenda Chapman, heralded as the first woman to direct a Pixar film,the forthcoming Brave has been replaced at the helm of that picture by Mark Andrews,the director of the 2005 Pixar short One Man Band. Pixar has faced criticism from some corners about its lack of gender diversity behind the camera. All 11 of the celebrated animation studios features have been directed by men. Chapman has been working for years on Brave,which,in an extra display of girl power,is centered on a woman.
Zoolander,he fashion plate played by Ben Stiller in his 2001 comedy of the same name,is one of two characters that Stiller will portray in a series of Web-based digital shorts for Paramount Digital Entertainment. Stiller said in a telephone interview that those projects could grow into television shows,feature films and even online social games. This is the first time that really a triple-A star is going to star in an Internet series for us, said Thomas Lesinski,the president of Paramount Digital.
