External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had a brief informal chat on the sidelines of a luncheon here on Thursday during which they are understood to have discussed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to the US next week.
The two leaders,who are in the Afghan capital for the swearing in ceremony of Hamid Karzai for a second five-year term as President,exchanged views with each other at the start of the luncheon hosted by Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta.
Clinton and Krishna are understood to have discussed Singh’s four-day visit to the US beginning on November 22. The Prime Minister’s trip is the first state visit of the Obama Administration. Singh is scheduled to meet President Barack Obama on November 24 during a state dinner at the White House.
