The All India Football Federation suspended Mahesh Gawli and Sameer Naik on Sunday for missing a national camp on directions of their I-League club Dempo, whose fate will be decided by a disciplinary committee before the start of the Federation Cup next month. Dempo had stopped Gawli and Naik from joining the senior national camp in Goa earlier this month, claiming they were recuperating from their respective knee and hamstring injuries.

We have decided to refer this matter to the disciplinary committee of the federation. Till the committee meets and takes a decision, the duo will not be allowed to play for Dempo. They cannot even play the local league. We will definitely come out with a decision before the start of Federation Cup. For the time being, the matter has been referred to the disciplinary committee, which has the power to either suspend the club or fine them, AIFF general secretary Alberto Colaco said.

In their emergency committee meeting, the AIFF also appointed Sunando Dhar as the CEO of the I-League. He Dhar will take over in January. As for the AIFF general secretarys post,no formal decision has been taken yet, AIFF president Praful Patel said.

The AIFF has also decided to organise the Federation Cup in Guwahati from December 20 to January 3. The committee also decided to host the mens camp at Kalyani, while deciding on Goa as the venue for the womens team for the preparation of the 2011 South Asian Games.

It has also been decided that from the next season 2010-11,players will have to register online for club transfers,in accordance with FIFA guidelines. Patel also met with Mohun Bagan and East Bengal with regards to the issue of the release of players for national duty.
