After being plagued with an ankle injury last year,Punjab medium-pacer Vikram Raj Vir Singh is back to full fitness and is looking ahead to the second season of the Indian Premier League in South Africa.
An important cog in the Yuvraj Singh-led Kings XI Punjab side,VRV Singh had to keep away from competitive cricket for over nine months owing to his injured ankle. Singh had shown fine form in domestic cricket and bagged 11 wickets for Punjab in the IPLs first edition. But after his Kings XI stint ended, blinding pain in his left ankle made bowling quite a painful task.
I went for a bone scan in Mumbai which showed three bone spurs. After consulting Kings XIs physio Pat Farhat,I decided to go for surgery. Farhat arranged for him to have surgery in Sydney in late June.
The paceman returned to Chandigarh in late October with a programme of exercises to follow. But he decided to leave no stone unturned and called up Dav Whatmore to see if he could attend the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for expert supervision. I am bowling with the same rigour in the nets and feeling fit. I am looking forward to the second edition of the IPL. Bowling on South African tracks would suit me.
