Tillakaratne Dilshan cracked an unbeaten 113 as Sri Lanka thrashed Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first of three ODIs on Saturday. Sri Lanka required 238 to win in 41 overs under the Duckworth/Lewis method after a lengthy stoppage because of a floodlight failure at Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium. The hosts reached the target with more than five overs to spare. Dilshan hit 11 boundaries in scoring his 15th ODI century. Kumar Sangakkara made 63.
Earlier Tamim Iqbal smashed an entertaining 112 and Nasir Hossain cracked 73 not out to lift Bangladesh to 259-8 after being sent in to bat first. The left-handed opener hit one six and 10 fours in his fourth one-day hundred to lead Bangladeshs recovery after three wickets had fallen for 63 runs. Tamim put on 66 for the fourth wicket with Mohammad Mahmudullah 29 and 75 for the next with Nasir Hossain.
