Daredevils snap up Pietersen

Delhi Daredevils have signed up Kevin Pietersen in the transfer window in an attempt to shore up their fragile middle order that contributed to their bottom-place finish in IPL 4

Delhi Daredevils have signed up Kevin Pietersen in the transfer window in an attempt to shore up their fragile middle order that contributed to their bottom-place finish in IPL 4.

Pietersen was bought from the Deccan Chargers who had bagged the England batsman after a 650,000 bid last year, but couldnt avail his services because of hernia for an undisclosed sum, although sources in the Delhi team say its considerably more than his auction price. The deal didnt involve a trading of players.

The Pietersen deal is only the third of the transfer window as franchises tread cautiously ahead of the players auction in February which will see an extra 2 million budget cap. The 31-year old batsman, who played for the Royal Challengers in 2009 and 2010,said: It will be a great experience to be playing in the same squad as Sehwag.
